Privacy Policy
QR Scanner is made by Veloce Digital Co (“we”, “us”). We built it to work without collecting your data. This page explains exactly what the app and this website do.
The short version
We do not collect your personal data. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no trackers in the app. What you scan stays on your phone.
What stays on your device
- Your scan history, notes, tags and favourites are stored in a local database on your phone. They are never uploaded by the app.
- Your settings (such as theme and app lock) are stored locally.
- Uninstalling the app removes this data. Your phone’s own system backup (for example Google’s device backup) may include app data depending on your phone’s settings; that is controlled by you and your device maker.
Camera and photos
The camera is used only to read QR codes and barcodes. Images are processed on your device and are not saved or sent anywhere. If you choose to scan from a gallery image, only the image you pick is read, on your device.
Link safety checks
The safety check for links runs entirely on your phone using built-in rules. The links you scan are not sent to us or to any third-party service for checking.
Internet use
The app uses the internet only to:
- check whether a new version is available, by requesting a small file from this website; and
- download an update when you tap “Update”, from our release page on GitHub.
When these requests happen, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) and GitHub may record technical information such as your IP address in their server logs, under their own privacy policies. We do not use this to identify you.
Opening links and other apps
When you tap “Open”, “Call”, “Send SMS” or similar, the content is handed to your browser or another app on your phone. That app’s own privacy policy applies from that point.
App lock
If you turn on app lock, the app asks Android to verify you with your fingerprint, face or phone PIN. We never receive or store your biometric data; Android handles it.
Permissions
- Camera: to scan codes.
- Internet: to check for and download updates.
- Vibration: to confirm a scan (you can turn this off).
- Biometrics: for the optional app lock.
- Install packages: so the app can open Android’s installer when you choose to update.
Future features
We plan to offer an optional, end-to-end encrypted cloud backup. It will be off by default, and we will update this policy and tell you clearly before it is released.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date above. Significant changes will be announced on this website.
